Jake & Michelle Shupe
Jake & Michelle purchased Barracuda Coffee Company from Bill Pogue back in February 2009. Barracuda's was opened in 2003 by Bill Pogue, after a long career of operating convenience stores for his brother. Barracuda's gets its name and theme from Bill's love of muscle cars.
Jake and Michelle, both lifelong Tri-Cities residents, come from a background of youth work. Married in May of 2007, and longtime family friends, they left their positions on staff at a local church to have the opportunity to live their dream of having a coffee shop. Both have worked in coffee for several years: Michelle at Espresso World and Jake at Barracuda's shortly after Bill opened the shop.
They have 4 children, ranging in age from 18 to one-and-a-half. Cory, the oldest, was just brought on staff at Barracuda's and is attending Columbia Basin College in the Winter. He enjoys sports, video games, and food (any and all). Kyler, 17, is a junior at Richland High School, and very much enjoys his job at Cline Computers, in Richland. He also spends his free time with his friends, and playing video games. Madison, 13, is a 7th grader at Chief Joseph Middle School. She stays very active with her social life and school work. Hudson, the newest little Shupe, is 26lbs of high-octane energy that keeps everyone in the family on their toes! He is a VERY busy boy, and enjoys animals, cars, motorcycles, and time with his grandparents.
Since "the takeover" of Barracuda's, Michelle and Jake have enjoyed the abundance of evenings available for family time, dinners together, and the opportunities to meet many, many wonderful people. They also love coming to work every day and getting to have fun with their staff--which is the best in the Tri-Cities!
